Delusional Spiritual Practice vs True Spiritual Practice
Spiritual practice must be balanced with real world experience because relying on spirituality alone does not change anything in your actual life. If you spend all your time thinking about mystical things, you will fail to develop the skills needed to handle your responsibilities and solve your problems in reality. On the other hand if you only care about the material world without any inner awareness you lose yourself and become a slave to the status quo.
Modern spirituality has a marketing problem because we are currently flooded with metaphysical fairytale junk. It promises to make us feel special without requiring us to be accountable and competent in real life. This brand of spirituality targets people by offering a shortcut that avoids the difficult work of being a functional human being.
If your spiritual practice makes you feel like all spiritual while your actual life is a mess, you have not found wisdom. Instead you have found a way to hide from your responsibilities and avoid living as a functional human being. Nonsense like astral projection, StarSeed, opening portals, akashic records, spiritual hierarchies, past life stories further enables this delusion. How does this improve your present or your future life? How does this make you a better functioning human being? All these nonsense just disconnects you from reality.
True growth is about finding the balance between these two sides. A good teacher does not just talk about mystical things but instead guide you to navigate reality such as improving intelligence, sharpening skills, improving competency, managing emotions better and improved problem solving skills. A good teacher teachers you spiritual tools that you can use to navigate your reality better.
True spiritual growth should make you a better functioning human being. You participate in society while maintaining your inner balance. True spirituality helps to improve your intelligence, sharpening your skills, improve your competency, improve relationship and your relationship within yourself, nature and the Universe.
I have come across so many messed up humans who explored spiritual practices to a point they lost the plot and their true identity. My advice, follow spiritual teachers who talks about spiritual practices and reality in balance. When you come across spiritual teachers who is all about spiritual, runaway. They prey on gullible and highly impressionable people.
